据香港媒体报道，迈克尔-杰克逊(MJ)的死因仍未确定，但洛杉矶警方已经向其家人透露，已锁定怀疑注射过量强力麻醉剂令迈克尔-杰克逊致死的目标人物，日内会提出起诉。
迈克尔-杰克逊家人的好友及演唱会筹办人Terry Harvey前天(7月18日)受访时说：“警方告诉MJ家人，毒品管制局正在争取刑事起诉，很可能是二级谋杀，还向他们保证有人要受刑事审讯，甚至被起诉的会超过一个人。”
曾向迈克尔-杰克逊开出处方药物及迈克尔-杰克逊死时在场的私人医生默里及皮肤科医生Arnold Klein都成为疑凶，默里上周初拒绝接受警方第三度问话，警方也曾到MJ住过的伦敦和巴林等海外地方，寻找相关医生问话。Terry证实MJ滥药多年，与瘾君子没有分别，近年还自行注射，而MJ因彩排演唱会令肾上腺素太高而失眠，故每周都会到Arnold家睡觉及取药。
迈克尔-杰克逊家人打算在警方提控后，控告MJ伦敦演唱会主办商AEG Live导致他人死亡，索偿约合人民币3.35亿元。而“玉婆”伊丽莎白-泰勒则留言说仍在哀悼MJ。
